Creative Outdoor Lighting Ideas
Here are some tips to enhance your patios look and feel by putting up different lighting scenarios:
1) Caribbean Adventure:
Warm lighting color schemes will help create a vibrant atmosphere. Replace outdoor light bulbs with colored ones that will cast a warm light on the space. Tiki torches are a great inexpensive way to bring a touch of the islands to your backyard adventure. They also cast accent lighting on trees, shrubs and other outdoor spaces.
2) Ye Old Campfire:
How about installing a custom fire pit in your backyard. Nothing says gather around for conversation than a fire pit that encourages socializing and acts as a natural gathering spot for friends and family.
3) Downlighting, Uplighting and Backlighting:
A great way to create depth is to cast shadows on walls, plants, rocks, gardens and paths by backlighting them. You can also shoot light straight down or up on objects to create a feeling that these shrubs, trees or what-have-you are larger than life.
4) Strong and Rope Lighting:
Easily the most inexpensive method of bring light to your outdoor party is utilizing rope or string lighting techniques. They are easy to put up and take down and can bring a creative glow to your outdoor space. Create a lit canopy by stringing lighting back and forth from the edge of a house, gazebo or porch to a tree creating a triangular light canopy. Wrap rope lighting around banisters, railings, trees and more to bring out the spacial definition of your outdoor entertainment area.
5) Garden & Pathway Enhancement:
Create dramatic effect of the space in your backyard by highlighting paths with rope lighting lining the edges of the path. Create depth in your garden across the yard by placing spot lighting on the ground shooting up to fill empty space in your garden.
